Front Brake Hoses

 

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

 

NOTE: Brake fluid is a corrosive chemical and can damage paints and some plastics. Avoid contact with skin.

 

Removal

 

Drain the brake fluid in the front brake system. See the Brake Fluid topic for more information.

 

 

Place a rag below the brake hose where it meets the master cylinder. Loosen the brake hose banjo bolt with a 12 mm socket. Allow the brake fluid to drain into a suitable container. Do not allow the brake fluid to fall on a painted surface.

Remove the brake hose joint bolt with a 10 mm socket.

 

Hold the brake hose attachment with a 14 mm wrench and loosen the line with a 14 mm wrench.

 

 

Installation

 

Connect the brake hose the master cylinder with two new sealing washers. Torque the banjo bolt to specification with a 12 mm socket.

 

(Brake Hose Banjo Bolt Torque: 23 N-m or 16.5 lb-ft)

Install the brake hose joint bolt and tighten its securely with a 10 mm socket.

 

Thread the brake hose into to the caliper. Hold the brake hose joint with a 14 mm wrench and tighten the hose securely with a 14 mm wrench.

 

(Front Brake Hose Torque: 20 - 25 N-m or 14.5 - 18.0 lb-ft)
